 Studio Policies

Studio Philosophy & Commitment
I am committed to providing the highest level of musical instruction in a supportive, encouraging, and results-driven environment. My goal is not simply to teach notes, but to help students develop confidence, discipline, and a lifelong appreciation for music. Consistency and partnership are essential for success. The following policies are designed to support steady progress and create a positive experience for students and families alike.

Tuition & Enrollment
Tuition is $200 per month, which reserves a weekly lesson time exclusively for your child. Tuition is a flat monthly rate. Lesson schedules naturally vary due to holidays and school breaks; monthly tuition remains consistent throughout the year and is not adjusted based on the number of lessons in a given month. Lessons are taught year-round except for observed national holidays, public school Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring breaks, and one week of summer vacation. Tuition is due by the first scheduled lesson of the month, or no later than the 5th. A 30-day notice is required to discontinue lessons. Without notice, an additional month’s tuition will be charged.

Lesson Length & Structure
Lessons typically range 30–40 minutes, depending on the student’s age, focus, and stamina. I often extend lessons when a student is engaged and progressing well. Parents are welcome to gently end a lesson early if their child becomes fatigued.

Missed Lessons
Lesson times are reserved specifically for your child; therefore, missed lessons are not refunded. Make-up lessons are generally not available. When advance notice is given, I will gladly try to reposition a lesson within the same week if space allows.

Instrument & Lesson Prerequisites
All piano students must have access to a well-maintained acoustic piano or a high-quality digital piano with fully weighted keys. Voice students must be at least 12 years old. For students under twelve, a hybrid piano and voice lesson is available, focusing on musical fundamentals, basic keyboard skills, and pitch-matching ability.

Practice & Progress
My studio maintains high artistic standards and emphasizes steady, visible progress. Students are expected to practice a minimum of four days per week, following written assignments given during lessons. Practice expectations vary by level and may include multiple repetitions per day for beginners or daily time goals of 20–45 minutes for advancing students. Parents are encouraged to help establish a consistent practice routine in a quiet, focused environment.

Summer Lessons
Lesson times are not held for students who take extended summer breaks. Students taking fewer than eight weeks of summer lessons may be placed on the waiting list for fall. Families who wish to guarantee their lesson time may continue tuition payments throughout the summer.

Recitals & Performance
Two studio recitals are held each year. All students 14 and under are required to participate. Recitals provide clear goals, motivate consistent practice, build confidence, and give students the opportunity to share their progress with others.

Parental Partnership
Thank you for entrusting me with your child’s musical education. I take this responsibility seriously and am deeply invested in each student’s development.
Parental support is vital and may include encouragement, occasional supervision of practice, and helping establish consistent routines. Music education is a team effort, and with your support at home and my guidance in lessons, your child will develop skills and confidence that extend far beyond music.
